EAMCET was first conducted in 1986 .But it was initiated in 1985.During this period Senior Nandamuri Taraka rama rao was Chief minister of Andhra Pradesh state.TDP was in ruling. Till 1984 only for admission for MBBS seats entrance exam was conducted.It was known as EMCET. later on in 1986 it is combined for engineering courses admissions. And Name changed to EAMCET.
after separation of both telugu states on behalf of APSCHE ( Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education ) Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU- K ) Kakinada is conducting EAMCET for Andhrapradesh state and on behalf of TSCHE ( Telangana state council of Higher Education) Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University ( JNTU-H ) Hyderabad is conducting EAMCET for Telangana state.
APSCHE came into existence with effect from 20 may 1988 through the act 16 of 1988 to advise the government matters relating to higher education in the state to oversee it's development with perspective planning and for matters connected their with and incidental there to .
Later on Agriculture courses admissons are also added in this exam . Now EAMCET stands for Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test .
As Now Medical courses (MBBS) seats are filled through NEET and pharmacy course admission also done through EAMCET it is Changed to EPACET from 2021 in the state of Andhrapradesh only. In Telangana still it is known as EAMCET.
