EPIMERS :
Epimers Definition:
Sugars that differ only by the stereo chemistry at a single carbon are called epimers, and the carbon atom where they differ is generally stated.
NOTE: If the number of a carbon atom is not specified, it is assumed to be C-2
Epimers Examples:
For example:
(1) glucose and mannose differ only at C-2, the first asymmetric carbon atom.

Therefore, glucose and mannose are 'C-2 epimers' or simply 'epimers'.
